The historical evidence for the art of basket weaving is nearly as old as mankind. Baskets have been used to separate chaff from grain; collect eggs, fruits and berries; and even cradle infants.  Before the advent of paper sacks, baskets went to market to carry home purchases.  As basket uses expanded, designs changed to accommodate specific purposes. Today we find: berry baskets, egg baskets, peach baskets, market baskets, card recipe baskets, cake baskets, step baskets, and hanging baskets.  And the shapes are as varied as the purposes: oval baskets, round baskets, square baskets, rectangular baskets, flared-bottom baskets and tulip baskets.  We even have a grannies' hand bag woven as a basket!  To return to a navigation column on the left of the baskets, use this return button.

Our baskets are constructed with full loops, both vertically at the handle and horizontally around the top edge of the basket. Contact Us Ordering Information Payment Options In the tradition of Amish craftsmanship, our baskets offer the sturdiness of quality construction, are designed for practical applications, and  best serve the specific purpose for which they were intended. A typical Amish basket, constructed for their own use, would be devoid of color or other design enhancements which serve no functional purpose. However,  modifications such as woven handles, flared bottoms and color, are incorporated to facilitate appeal and uniqueness of appearance when offering baskets to the general public.
